Had certain events not taken place, Usodai would've been Toroka's father, but it is not to be and the Lord is a product of forced unions between Zarina and Nomvula[1]. Presumably before Empires of Sand he meets Teule and they have Sadatina together. At first hating him and seeing him as tumor, Zarina comes to love her son, even if she continues to hate the Lyon who sired him.[2]
