Hiana is Dukan's third mate, one of many, and the mother of Himarta.

Hiana is never described.
Personality[]
In constrast to Dukan's hard and cold personality, Hiana is quite soft and loving. However, she never gets between him and his orders, until it concerns the death of Himarta. Then she stands up in her son's stead, but loses him to exile anyway. She is described as cool-headed and the voice of reason.

In The Land of the Marozi[]
Hiana bears Dukans cubs, but they are runty and only the one -- Himarta -- survives. She is absent in the second part of TLofM, but present in the third where Himarta, believed to be an evil spirit by Dukan and the rest of the pride when he "rises from the dead". Dukan seeks to kill him, but Hiana argues that they cannot know for certain whether this is their son or some demon. Touching a paw to his face and saying gentle words, she too leaves him to his exile.
